Abstract: In the context of the transition to the information economy, the innovative activity of the region is its key competitive advantage. Sustainable economic growth of the region, increasing its efficiency in the existing realities is not possible without the integrated use of its innovative potential. The article reveals the concept of innovative development of regions. Based on the calculation of the index of innovative development of the regions, a comparative analysis of the Brest and Grodno regions was carried out. According to the results of the analysis, the directions of innovative development in the regions of the Republic of Belarus were developed.
