Peculiarities of mass consciousness in Belarus in the second half of the 1980s — early 1990s are analyzed. The investigated data of public opinion polls and statistical indicators in the article make it possible to reinterpret the processes which took place in the Belarusian mass consciousness during the “perestroika” period and in the first years of independence. The author concludes that Belarusian mass consciousness was seriously traumatized by the crisis and collapse of the Soviet system, disintegration of the unified country and by difficulties of the early period of the Belarusian statehood. |
