This article presents the author's interpretation of global financial imbalances as a multilevel and institutionally conditioned phenomenon that goes beyond the scope of traditional macroeconomic analysis. The study aims to develop a comprehensive typology of imbalances, taking into account institutional maturity, economic growth models, the degree of integration into the global financial system, and the level of digitalization. Fifteen types of imbalances are identified, ranging from macroeconomic, currency, and investment imbalances to behavioral, regulatory, technological, and environmental imbalances. A comparative analysis of the nature and manifestations of financial imbalances in developed economies and emerging market countries is conducted. It is shown that resilience to external shocks is determined not only by economic resources, but also by the quality of institutions, financial regulation, and the capacity for international coordination. The need for adaptive strategies to manage global financial imbalances, tailored to the institutional characteristics of different countries, is justified.-
