Открывая «новый свет»: гендерные аспекты рынка труда

Abstract

Представлен вклад К. Голдин в изучение эволюции гендерных различий в уровнях занятости и доходов. Рассмотрены особенности ее исследовательского подхода и установленные ею стилизованные факты динамики гендерного разрыва в американской экономике: U-образная кривая предложения женской рабочей силы в течение последних двухсот лет; важная роль замужних женщин в рабочей силе в XX в. и когортные эффекты; медленное повышение относительных доходов женщин и усиление гендерной «дискриминации в заработной плате» в 1950–1980 гг.; снижение роли фактора производительности и растущее значение внутрипрофессиональных различий в сохранении гендерного разрыва в доходах в последние десятилетия. Раскрыто влияние ожиданий, эффекта родительства и гибкости рабочего времени на развитие рынка труда, роль гендерных норм и возможные пути интервенций для сокращения гендерного разрыва в доходах.

The article presents Ñlaudia Goldin’s contribution to the study of the evolution of gender differences in levels of employment and income. The features of her research approach and the stylized facts she established about the dynamics of the gender gap in the American economy are examined: the U-shaped curve of female labor supply over the past two hundred years; the important role of married women in the workforce in the 20th century and cohort effects; the slow rise in women’s relative earnings and increasing gender «wage discrimination» from 1950 to 1980; the declining role of productivity factors and the growing importance of intra-occupational differences in maintaining the gender earnings gap in recent decades. The influence of expectations, the parenthood effect and workplace flexibility on the development of the labor market, the role of gender norms and possible ways of intervention to reduce the gender gap in income are revealed.
